Royal Blood are an English rock duo formed by Mike Kerr (vocals, bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums) in Brighton in 2011. Their sound is anchored by Kerr’s unique bass playing technique, in which he uses various effects pedals and multiple amps to make his bass guitar sound like a standard electric guitar and bass at the same time. Typhoons is their third studio album. Wikipedia

Royal Blood have made a record that so boldly, brilliantly and some might say defiantly has its shiniest dancing shoes on. Typhoons is an album that slides and slithers, so loose and cool it seems like it’s barely trying, while taut enough to bounce a 50-pence-piece off. Kerrang!

For album number three, Royal Blood haven’t reinvented the wheel – but they’ve certainly pimped their ride with a tweaked engine, some sick racing stripes and a sexy leopard-print interior. By being far more explicit about their dancefloor influences (think Daft Punk, Justice, Goldfrapp and Cassius), Typhoons has much more of a glitterball shimmer than the previous jet-black palette of their self-titled 2014 debut and its aptly titled 2017 follow-up How Did We Get So Dark?.
