Born in Los Angeles, January 15, 1988, Skrillex is a pioneering American DJ, record producer and musician known for his innovative style and contributions to to the field of electronic dance music EDM, dubstep in particular. His work has made an indelible mark on 21st century music. The fact that he has already won nine Grammy Awards, the most of any EDM artist in history, reflects his profound influence and recognition within the genre.
Skrillex, whose birth name is Sonny John Moore, began his musical journey as a teenager 20 odd years ago in 2004 singing lead and fronting post-hardcore band From First to Last. In 2007, after recording two studio albums with the group, he ventured out on his own, gaining significant attention as he transitioned into electronic music.
His breakthrough came with the release of his 2010 dubstep EP “My Name Is Skrillex” which he initially offered as a free download. Following that, he solidified his reputation with the critically acclaimed EPs “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” and “More Monsters and Sprites.”
In addition to his own solo work, Skrillex has worked on numerous award winning projects with other artists, forming Jack Ü with Diplo and Dog Blood with Boys Noize. He has continuously pushed the boundaries of EDM, combining various genres and styles in his vast, eclectic repertoire. His latest album, F*ck U Skrillex You Think You’re Andy Warhol But You’re Not!!, is no exception.
Released April Fool’s Day, April 1, 2025, F*ck U Skrillex… marks a significant return to his dubstep roots.
