Who: The Polyphonic Spree

What: Holidaydream: Sounds of the Holidays, Vol. One

Where: Dallas, Texas

Why: The Polyphonic Spree is an American choral rock group from Dallas, Texas formed by Tim DeLaughter in the year 2000. DeLaughter’s previous group, Tripping Daisy, came to an abrupt end in 1999 when guitarist Wes Berggren died of a drug overdose. DeLaughter formed The Polyphonic Spree in part as a reaction to Berggren’s tragic death. Initially collaborating with 12 other musicians, DeLaughter wanted to put together a group that reflected the music he grew up with while exploring the orchestral palette and pop sensibility of Sgt Pepper era Beatles and Pet Sounds/Smile era Beach Boys. Holidaydream: Sounds of the Holidays, Vol. One is the band’s first foray into Christmas music with additional volumes planned for the future

When: 2012
