60s infused garage rock ‘n’ roll band Velvet Starlings announce the forthcoming release of their debut album, Technicolour Shakedown. Hailing from Los Angeles and the beach cities of Southern California, the band was founded by guitarist and organ player Christian Gisborne. Gisborne not only tracked all of the instruments, but also engineered, mixed and produced the LP.
“2021’s answer to psychedelic, gritty garage rock that sparked elation in the 1960s.” – Flood Magazine
“Every now and then a garage rock band kicks down the doldrum doors of summer and injects us with newfound energy. That band right now is Los Angeles’ Velvet Starlings, a fuzzed-out psychotronic rock and roll freakout.” – Vanyaland
“Velvet Starlings rev up garage rock for the 21st century. They plug in, rave-up, and get out quickly on their organ-drenched debut album, Technicolour Shakedown. Splice together a bit of the Doors, a pinch of the Beatles, a dash of Bowie, and a scoop of White Stripes, and what do you get? Something new, but not so “new” that people won’t get it. Rock ‘n’ roll will live to see another day.” – Pop Matters
