At 47 years of age Black Mountain front man Stephen McBean is a grizzled veteran of the wild Canadian music frontier. Forming his first band at the age of 12, Victoria’s punk rock outfit Jerk Ward, McBean has tried his hand at various incarnations in the ensuing 30 odd years including Mission Of Christ (MOC), Gus, Ex-Dead Teenager, Jerk With A Bomb, Pink Mountaintops and now Vancouver’s hard rocking psychedelic darlings Black Mountain. After a six year hiatus between studio albums McBean & Co return with their third album since the band’s 2005 debut. At the heart of this double LP are three sprawling synth heavy 9 minute space epics of the Welcome To The Machine “Wish You Were Here” Pink Floyd variety. Chock-full of multi-layers of nuance and textures Black Mountain’s 4th is a dizzying journey sure to set controls to the heart of the sun.

Key tracks: Mothers Of The Sun, Space To Bakersfield, (Over And Over) The Chain
